Morocco Botola Pro has reached the 2019/20 final day with a trio of teams running for the title: Raja Casablanca, Wydad Casablanca and RS Berkane.
On the matchday eve, Raja was leading the table with 57 points and +19 in goal difference. After them, the reigning Wydad was with 56 points but with +23 and behind the two giants, RS Berkane with 54 points.
Raja hosted FAR Rabat, Wydad played away at FUS, and RS Berkane went to the usually festive and hostile pitch of Olympique Safi. The way things went that night created a rare finish line for the Moroccan league, something that hasn’t seen for years.
First, FUS scored the 1-0 against Wydad in Rabat. In this situation, Raja were the champions.
Then, Berkane went up 0-1 at Safi and in this situation - they were on top of the table!
But wait - Wydad equalized three minutes later, and if that wasn’t enough - FAR scored in Mohammed V and gained the 0-1 against Raja.
The halftime mark had some dazzling news: if things remained as stood, Berakne is the champions.
Then the mess has started. First, Abdelilah Hafidi equalized for Raja, in that scenario the Greens returned to the first place. In this situation - they are the champions of Morocco.
The results remained the same, but on the 88th minute, Wydad completed a comeback through Zouheri El Moutaraji, who scored a winner in the Moroccan capital and have put the Reds two minutes away from a dramatic title.
End of story? Guess again. This is Morocco, Maghreb. Nothing is predictable.
Deep in extra-time Hafidi notched another one for Raja, made it 2-1 to the Eagles and guaranteed that after seven years, Dima Raja will celebrate their 12th Moroccan title. What drama! What a finish!
After that, regardless of coronavirus outcomes, there were absolute scenes in Casablanca!
