Historic British Debut as Hilal Al Quds Returns to Action

East Jerusalem's Hilal Al Quds marked their return to competitive football yesterday with a 0-0 draw against Al Ahli of Bahrain in their AFC Challenge League opener.

This was the Palestinian club's first official match in over a year.

The match was particularly notable for featuring the debut of Joseph (Yusuf) Yarney in central defense, making history as the first British player in Palestinian football. Yarney previously came through the youth ranks at several English clubs including Everton, Newcastle United, and Tranmere Rovers.

Due to the current inactive status of their domestic league, the team has relocated its operations to Amman, Jordan, to participate in Asia's third-tier continental competition.
