Lucas Román
Age: 18
Club: Ferro Carril Oeste (Primera Nacional, Argentina).
Position: Winger, Forward.
Nationality: Argentinian.
Market Value: £285k (€325k) - Transfermarkt.
While playing in the local second tier, and only 18 years old, Lucas Roman is already a familiar name, whom many words have been written about. He’s playing regularly for a player of his age, has been called up to the age group national team, and has been linked to clubs inside and outside of Argentina.
The left-footed attacking player operates mainly as right winger - cutting inside to get a shot or pass into the box - or as a forward. He is a threat in transition, has good pace for his size, and direct mindset - he wants to take it forward. He couples this with good shooting ability from outside the area, and the vision and skill to play a ball in too.

Capable in tight spaces, counting mostly on his dribbling and using his body to fend off opponents - his awareness and ability to pick up good passes under pressure remains a mystery to me. Very good in a one-on-one situation in wide areas, the ball stays close to his feet and he can accelerate with power.
Roman has a good work rate and intensity in his game out of possession, mainly in counter pressing but from what I’ve seen, and I don’t believe he will have trouble when asked to do more.
The Argentine is a talented player, with many things going for him. He is a big attacking threat with good skills on the ball, and indications of a strong and positive mentality.
I’m certain he’s going to make it to the higher levels, and only the price tag holds him back for now, but I’m less certain about his ability to play in Europe. Nevertheless, keep an eye on this youngster, he’s fun to watch.
