Federico Pereira: Baba Scouted

Apart from positive results and two titles in recent years, Liverpool Montevideo, the Negriazules, is slowly becoming one of the most productive academies in Uruguay.

River Plate's Nicolas de la Cruz, America's Sebastian Caceres; Nicolas Acevedo and the club's top scorer Juan Ignacio Ramirez, are only a few of the names you may have heard about.

Today, in his BabaScouted weekly edition, Juan Gafas bring you another talent made the smallest country in the world, that produces the most football players.

Federico Pereira

Age: 20

Club: Liverpool (Uruguay)

Position: Full Back

Nationality: Uruguay

Market Value: 400.000 € (Transfermarkt)

Federico Pereira, who started playing regularly this season, is another Liverpool's academy product who people outside of Uruguay might get to know better soon enough. The 20 years old right-back, who can perform as a centre back too, does well in duels both in the air (about 6′ 1″ tall) and on the ground. He moves well and difficult to beat in 1v1 situations, and from his build and appearances, it appears he has excellent physical potential.

He can carry the ball forward very good, showing good technical skills and using his pace, and just opened the score in Liverpool's last match, netting his first league goal after a good run. His positioning and skills on the ball in the build-up phase, apart from his ability to break lines running forward, are sufficient for the level he is playing and his experience, suggesting there is more to come from him.

Pereira has most the basics, good technical skills, promising physical and the right mindset when defending. His tactical awareness and decision making should improve with time, having played only 20-25 first team games so far, and I believe we will see him at higher levels soon enough. Who knows, he might even fulfil his dream to play in La Celeste someday in the future, although for the time being that seems far.
