Bahrain emerged victorious in a dramatic conclusion to the Arabian Gulf Cup (Khaleeji 26) on Saturday night in Kuwait, defeating Oman 2-1 to secure their second Khaleeji title in history.

Oman struck first, with Abdul Rahman Al Mushaifri converting a precise header in the 17th minute. The early goal set the stage for a tense encounter, with Oman’s defense holding firm against Bahrain’s persistent attacks throughout the first half.
Bahrain’s journey to the final was a mix of resilience and surprise. They topped Group B with victories over regional heavyweights Saudi Arabia and Iraq but suffered an unexpected loss to Yemen. Undeterred, they advanced to the knockout stage and delivered a commanding performance in the semi-finals to set up their showdown with Oman.
In the final, Bahrain’s persistence paid off in the 78th minute when Mohamed Marhoon converted a penalty, awarded for a handball. Just two minutes later, Oman’s Mohammed Al Musalami inadvertently deflected a cross into his own net, giving Bahrain the decisive lead.
Despite Oman’s late efforts, Bahrain held firm to claim their second Gulf Cup, following their historic maiden triumph in 2019. The win solidifies Bahrain’s status as a rising powerhouse in Gulf football.
