The Copa América finished yesterday with another victory for Chile over Argentina in penalties.
We had the pleasure of collaborating with unique designer Aviad Feder and his project Federetrokits.
Feder has created an original retro design of historical kits for almost every team which took part in the tournament. We attached each kit its own BabaFact, combining knowledge with art.
Check out Federetrokits’ Instagram, Twitter and Facebook - the stuff you'll find there is gold.
In a tournament with a lot of question marks about its authenticity and genuine cause, our project - #BabaFedertrokits, aims to revive tradition, history and the character of each national team. You are welcome to see for yourself.
In the history of the South American game he will be forever remembered as a noble striker, a horse, a fighter and an artist - Gabriel 'Batigol' Batistuta.
Uruguay 1995 wasn't a happy Copa for Argentina who left the competition in the 1/4 finals, but Batigol struck 4 goals and ended up as the tournament’s top goalscorer.
Bolivia, 1995. A heroic comeback to a 2-2 with Chile and a first knockout stage for Bolivia in the Copa’s new format!
But Bolivia vs Chile is more than that.
The War of the Pacific, the lost access to the ocean and the loss of lands. Up until this day, the Bolivians accuse the Chilenos for almost everything bad that happens. Not in a racist manner, but as a cultural-educational habit.
Romário de Souza Faria.
In 2014, Romário was elected to the Brazilian Senate as the representative of Rio de Janeiro state. He got 4,683,963 votes, more than any previous Rio de Janeiro representative. Ever.
Bom succeso Romário, Vai Brazil!
The 7-0 victory against Mexico equaled the Chilean record for their highest ever win.
The tournament's MVP, Alexis Sánchez, is now eyeing on breaking the record of Chile's legendary no. 11, Marcelo Salas.
After Ecuador’s quarter final exit vs the USA, we made a special gesture to our friends from the country.
Where the passionate Latin fútbol can't win against the greedy American soccer - BabaGol and Federetrokits will remind everyone where the passion is.
Colombia, Italy 1990 World Cup, away kit.
The 1990's were the Colombian Golden Era - taking part in three World Cups, reaching the 1/8 finals in Italy, beating Argentina 5-0 in Buenos Aires at the '94 qualifiers, and nailed it with a Copa America title in 2001 as hosts. Champeta!
On June 22, 1994, Colombian Andrés Escobar scored an own goal in a World Cup match vs USA. Colombia lost 2-1 and were eliminated from the tournament.
On July 2 of that same year, Escobar has been shot six times to death in a nightclub parking lot. It was reported that the killer shouted 'Goal!' after every shot. Tonight, the teams meet again.
Rest in peace Andrés. Vive Andrés, Viva Colombia!
Although Mexico is under the jurisdiction of CONCACAF, the national team has been regularly invited to compete in the Copa América since 1993, finishing runner-up twice, in 1993 and 2001 – and obtaining the third-place medal on three occasions.
José del Solar scored only 9 goals for the Peruvian national team, but 3 of these were in the 1993 Copa América. He scored a brace against Paraguay and led his team to the first place in Group B, ahead of Brazil. His third goal was in the quarter final against Mexico.
Despite US footy wasn't fully pro at the time, the 1994 USA World Cup attracted nearly 69,000 spectators per game - a world record!
Alexi Lalas: "Before 1994 I was a 22-year-old punk who never thought about my place."
Venezuela’s first Copa América win was 3-0 against Bolivia in 1967. After that match, El Vino Tinto failed to win in 43 consecutive matches, and finished that crazy sequence with a 2:0 against Peru in 2007. Venezuela, Venezuela!
